Numerology in the Tarot

Tarot Cards are a versatile deck of cards which can be used from game-play to psychic readings, and beyond as meditation and development tools. There are many various decks with different artwork, themes, histories, and mythologies. Some are like traditional, esoteric "mystery school" symbolism. And, some are feats of artistic treasure, like the Dali Deck. And, some are like Oracles or affirmations, to help you focus and get on with your day. One thing that every 78-card deck likened to a Tarot deck (22 Trump cards, 4 Suits of number cards) has in common is Numerology. Numerology is the study of the vibrations of numbers & numerical values in all things.

Numerology is useful in both its personal relationship within an individual's life, and in understanding events in the world around us. It is not based solely on the illusion of time or calendars with one's birthdate. Those have merely been added to the scheme of things. The vibrations of Numbers permeate everything... but you don't have to be a mathematician to feel it or understand it. And, if you know Tarot, Numerology deepens the understanding. If you know Numerology, certain aspects of Tarot become accessible.

For example, in the Tarot's Major Arcana - or Trump cards, not of Suit - Key 0 is often called The Fool. The Fool card is associated with The Joker in a regular deck of game-play cards. The Fool is light-hearted, whimsical, inexperienced or somewhat directionless. Of course, a "seasoned" Fool may have qualities more akin to openness, acceptance, an unassuming attitude and adventurous spirit. In Numerology, the circular shape of "0" brings up the vibration of totality or completeness; yet, the value of Zero's totality is nothingness. So, the 0 ends up being a bit of a "Wild Card", depending on where it is placed in a Numerological chart. It can serve to enhance or decrease other Number Vibes in a data set. The Fool - the Wanderer of the Tarot - is definitely Key 0, the wild spirit of everything & nothing all at once.

We can also see how the numbered cards in the Minor Arcana, or Suits, associate readily in Numerological expressions of card meanings. Nearly every traditional Tarot Deck, like a deck of game-play cards, has four Suits of cards numbered Ace (singularity of one) to Ten (10). Numerology typically uses numeric vibrations on a scale of one to nine and zero. Any double or multi-digit numbers are reduced to a single digit through addition.

In this case, the 10 of any Suit actually carries the Number Vibe of 1. Within it, however, are the vibrations of both the 1 and the 0, or "Wild Card". In the Tarot, the cycle of each Suit from Ace to 10 shows a progression or process, the 10 (before reaching characters like the Queen & King) being the fulfillment or completion of that cycle. However, unlike the endings that come with a 9 Vibe, the endings of the 10 offer that wildcard choice: does this continue in a new level, stage, direction; or, is this complete & done, time to move to something entirely different?

The journey of the any of the Psychic Sciences & Metaphysics can be a profound one. But, even just touching on the usefulness of Numerology or the mystery of Tarot can bring us a new level of understanding, acceptance, self-awareness, & self-knowledge. Every "ah-ha" moment or passing epiphany that may be garnered from studying Tarot or Numerology (and using it) brings recognition of everyone's place in the whole vast Universe of energetic vibrations.
