Monthly Energy Update Summary for September 2023

After these fiery summer months packed with a powerful punch of energies, September begins to quiet down.  The initial punch of the power has settled, but... make no mistake about the presence of power simply because it may feel quieter or slower.  There is still potent and powerful energy moving through September with a more graceful and steady flow though some things may remain yet unsettled.  That’s what this energy is about – the strength and poise to settle after the big shifts and more aggressive changes from previous months’ energies.
 
September begins with Mercury in retrograde and Venus moving direct out of retrograde.  August also closed with a Blue Full Moon, and Jupiter and Uranus going retrograde.  The energies this month are all about slow-down with Water flow and Earth stability.  

In seeking the next steps and clarity with something that we implemented or started in July or August, we can now refine our approach, strategy, or creativity when reassessing what’s working and what’s not and where we’re headed from here with whatever is on our plate.  

There is a paradigm shift occurring for humanity on several levels, and this is bringing out more progressive and even philosophical objectivity, more grace and wisdom, or cautious awareness and clarity to the typical energies of September.  

​From the Full Blue Moon in August to the Full Moon in September, all the energies are gathering within and settling around to make way for inviting in and setting up the new – whatever that is in your life, home, family/friends/community, career, skills, finances, health, healing, lifestyle, goals, and outlook.  Be encouraged to explore your gifts, skills, talents, and interests as well. 

​Not only is this a practical use of time and attention, but the knowledge gained and practiced will become the wisdom lived by in future endeavors.  Appreciate and care enough about yourself, what you have, and what you want to leverage your own personal power and capacity to create the life you love.  You are the common denominator in every single experience you have in your life, so let yourself be who you are.

Venus, the planetary ruler of all things sensual and material in this world – relationships, health, beauty & comfort in our environment, finances & material possessions, and physical pleasures hat engage our physical senses – basically, all the illusions of reality, the manifestations.  However, those are the results of Venusian energy.  The truth that we often forget is that the Energy itself - thoughts, feelings, values, ideas, heartfelt pure desire, beliefs, and convictions - is what is behind all the physical manifestations and experiences and results.  These are the structures through which the energy moves in order to formulate the “things”.

August Energy is calling up to take a deep dive into our hearts and find what energy we are putting into our lives – the thoughts, feelings, memories, habits, beliefs, convictions, and definitions that we have in place to give meaning to our lives and how we relate to the world around us.  Yes, it is a time to balance work and play, quality time with friends and family or those important to us, and focused attention on our work, hobbies, and passion-projects. 

Beyond all of that, it’s time for self-care, relaxation, meditation, and reflection – quality time with your Self – to evaluate what you want, where your passions are, what needs forgiveness, what needs release.  Looking to so-called bad habits that have been stubborn or hard to break or change indicate areas where our thoughts and feelings are knotted up and stuck.  By examining the definitions that we place on things, where those beliefs came from, what limiting beliefs are holding you back from what values, Venus retrograde energy may just give you that “ah-ha” moment to shift perspective and energy… Especially when we realize that it is nothing but ourselves that stands in the way of our own Self accomplishing whatever we want to fulfill. 

Circumstances and other people and our world-at-large may hand us beliefs, values, perspectives, opinions, and even facts or stories; but, we are the ones who accept them, take them on, make them our own, and leave them there without reevaluation once more information comes in, or let them grow and entangle themselves on a deeper level that chokes our personal views, feelings, opinions, self-trust, self-worth, self-respect, and self-love.  Allow yourself the time in August to let go of old shadows, clean out the deep dark closet of your mind, and throw open a window to your soul for some fresh air.

Other Energies in August helping Venus retrograde include the Full Moons, both illuminating that which has been hidden or boosting the powers of manifestation of fulfillment of things you’ve been working on.  With the Lion’s Gate Portal (8-8), we have extra energy surrounding projects or goals coming to fruition, as well as whatever we’re working with regarding the Venus retrograde being highlighted as it relates to you and those projects and relationships closest to you.

The Pluto retrograde is giving us the opportunity to “big picture” everything.  We have the opportunity to (again) reevaluate values, beliefs, goals, & dreams as they relate to Life Purpose and the truth of who we believe ourselves to be within the world and society.  Many of the things highlighted by Venus are going to link us to our greater philosophy, definition, boundaries, foundations, and personal power within the greater whole that are all influenced by Pluto energy. 

As this era closes and a new one begins, we are being given the energy and tools to make great leaps of faith into brand new territory – even if things appear the same, the energy that makes them is different, so we need to be prepared to be different in some ways as well.  We are prepared to acknowledge how different we are today from yesterday and how today will grow into tomorrow based on how we appreciate today, right now.  And we are learning to be okay with it (whatever “it” is in every given moment), knowing from our inner strength that it truly is all okay because we know our Self.

Now, don’t roll your eyes… August ends with a brilliant gift from Mercury going retrograde.  Why, you ask, would I deem this a brilliant gift?  Well, at the tail-end of Venus’s retrograde phase and flowing delightfully into September, this Mercury retrograde – illuminated by a second Full Moon in August – will bring the practical nature of Lion’s Gate, Venus, and Pluto into practice, down-to-earth in everyday life. Wow!  I mean, could it not be a clearer instruction manual from the Universe?! 

We’re taught with Pluto’s long haul to be prepared for impermanence, go with the flow, true foundations and structures of strength and fluidity in our worldviews, purposes, and meanings.  Then, Venus tones-down the smoke-and-mirrors to show us what karma and thoughts-to-things and manifestation truly is, while giving us a demonstration of it with the Lion’s Gate Portal.  Then, Mercury – our lovely celestial messenger – gives us a practicum, a practice-lab, in which to alchemize what all these lessons, esoteric ideas, and resulting shifts can actually DO for us in “real life” every day.  Mercury’s retrograde energy will highlight the experimentation factor of putting new ideas, beliefs, revelations, communications, boundaries, systems, and behaviors into place. 

We might not jump right into brand new territory, but if we are keeping anything from “the old world”, or “the old country” as our immigrant ancestors here in the US used to say, we have the opportunity in Mercury’s alchemist-lab to test our new ideas, approaches, theories, philosophies and streamline the new solutions or systems or perspectives that have come from our revelations – possibly even those since the beginning of 2023 that have been a hard-start.  Whether we are taking our first tentative steps into completely new territory for which we’ve been mentally or emotionally preparing for some time now or are still working the kinks out of how we are moving forward on our own path, this Mercury retrograde carries all the Vibes of helping us move forward and achieve progress.
